A study of the properties of fibroin protein extracted from silk cocoons found that fibroin is suitable for use as an ingredient in skin repair and maintenance products because

– Highly effective in eliminating free radicals (Anti-oxidant) due to the presence of a large number of amino acids.
– Reduces wrinkles and fine lines on the face.
– Has the ability to inhibit the activity of the enzyme tyrosinase, which is an enzyme that accelerates the process of melanin production in the epidermis.
– Effective in maintaining skin moisture comparable to hyaluronic acid.
– Helps stimulate the growth of fibroblast cells, which are cells responsible for strengthening the skin by creating important protein fibers, namely collagen and elastin, in the dermis.
– Stimulates the activity of genes involved in the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid.
– Has properties to protect against ultraviolet radiation, especially in the 223-300 nanometer wavelength range, which covers the UVB wavelength range.
– Reduces wrinkles.
